How to cancel a MobileMe trial subscription

Since a few people have asked me, here’s the lowdown on how to cancel a MobileMe subscription within the free 60-days trial period.

  1. Log into MobileMe
  2. Click the Accounts button at the top of the window:
  3. Select “Account Options” from the menu on the left
  4. There you should see a “Cancel Account” button towards the bottom of the window. Click it to cancel your subscription.

Remember: As long as you cancel before the 60 days are up, the trial is completely free. Apple also has more information on canceling in their support article.

But despite all the negative press, I must say the MobileMe webapps look great and feel very desktop-like. I think the service is suffering a bit from “Vista-itis”, so lets hope the initial bad publicity doesn’t doom this product too.

  3. Nothing wrong with mobileme, just don’t use it very much. What will happen to my contacts and calenders on my iPhone if I cancel my mobileme account?
    I have a pc and all my contacts and calenders currently sync with outlook.

I signed up with mobile me as I was setting up a website and it said it would publish it (cutting out the middle man) I bought my domain name seperate and was hoping I would get an option to either enter the domain name and details for my site or at least re-direct the .me site to the .com site.

    It just didnt happen so I have no use for it and definately wouldnt pay £60 for a web site address nobody will ever see…. (as its a .me)

    Ahh well was a fun idea at the time.

  8. Hey, I’m trying to cancel the account and I am signing into mobile me. But I am not given the option of going to my account settings/options. The pictures look like you guys are using safari. I’ll try it using that. But shouldnt be a difference in views. Please let me know what yah think.

    which is not even finding the phone)… but can’t access my
    Account. MobileMe really sucks and this is just the straw that
    broke the camel’s back

  11. It’s not working. I keep on being redirected to Find my Phone … How can I cancel Mobile Me before they charge me. I wouldn’t mind paying but I can’t find any benefits.

Guys,even when within the free 60-day trial period, I can see the Cancel Subscription tab,it allows me to put a check in the box”I understand Ill lose all my information bla bla bla”…but after that I cannot see further to Confirm or Click on OK to Complete the cancellation…The bottom half of the Cancell Subscription screen doesnt appear no matter how much I maximise my screen or move task bar to left…I work with OS:Windows 7 & IE version 7…Do I need to change the browser ?How can I see the lower half of the Cancel by Subscription it a product glitch or a service that you do not want to provide…after so much endorsements

    • Hi Sanghamitra,

      Unfortunately I can’t see the option any more – but it does sound as though it could be a browser issue. Try viewing the site in Chrome or Safari for Windows maybe?

  13. im trying to cancel my account but when i type in it goes to WTF? i just what to get rid of this thing its horrible! someone please help im not paying for this S%$T. please and thank you

    • You should be able to log in to find my iPhone and then click your name in the top right corner and choose ‘Account’ from the drop-down list.
      It’s not quite certain at the moment what’ll happen with the service…
